Students should be able to communicate their understanding of literature by drawing connections to their personal experiences. Also, this communication should be done not only with by speaking, but also through writing and some form of artistic creation.
The related goals of this assignment are for students to be able to communicate their ideas. Also, a possible goal would be the students familiarizing themselves with new ways to analyze literature using their own persepective. Being able to create a drawing or some form of symbolic representation that clearly connects to the literature is also a related goal.
The Big Idea students should take away from this is a new way of understanding literature by connecting it to their own experiences.
